Was talking to some friends the other night who are wrestling with the balance between waiting on God and making plans for the future. And something that kind of came to us:
Most the time, when we wait for things on earth, it is because of something else that has to be done that can't be done. The bank worker who can't fix your account til Monday, or the professor who can't give you your next assignment til he grades the first one...we deal with these things everyday.
But when we bring our requests before the throne of grace, our God never says wait because He cannot answer our request immediately. Any request we bring before the Father could be answered that very instant. Do we pray like we believe that? And do we wait like we believe that? Or do we resign ourselves to waiting, acting like sad little children whose have failed to trust and loved their daddy? Do we truly recognize that when we are waiting on the Lord, we are waiting on, dwelling on, abiding in perfect peace, rest, wisdom, power and might?
