imagining

"I'll bring you a wave," called daddy
as quickly he ran to the sea
Ezra just sat and splished and he sploshed
and daddy, he winked at me.

"I'll catch you the ocean," he promised
and quick as a wink he did
Me and baby just wondered at all he could do
then back again was he.

"I'll build you a castle," he boasted
but foolish his claims did now seem
with water and sand his only supplies
was this idea simply a dream?

"I'll teach you, my son," daddy started
"for soon you can be just like me,
it's the courage my son to imagine
what is from what really can't be."
